For Rock chip repairs, no appointment is necessary, it is first come first served, most rock chip repairs are completed in as little as 15-20 minutes.

We apply tape to ensure that all mouldings and setting pins are in place while the windshield finalizes its adhesion process, and all moulding adhesives have cured. Please leave the tape on for 24 hours from the time you picked your vehicle up.

Make sure to remove the tape after 24 hours, although we use high quality, no residue autobody tape, if left on for longer than intended it can leave a black residue which can be difficult to clean later.

We offer a limited 60-day guarantee against manufacturer defects, like warping, fishbowl distortions and inclusions in the laminate layer. We will also warranty pressure cracks, however, these are exceedingly rare. A pressure crack will usually feature a perfectly straight crack either running top to bottom or side to side, without any deviations or changes in direction. If you cannot find a rock chip along the crack or are not sure what caused the damage, feel free to stop by one of our stores so we can take a look!

Not all auto glass manufacturers make parts for every vehicle, and not always at the same time. To ensure we have the best selection and availability of aftermarket parts for your vehicle, GlassMasters sources glass from a wide range of manufacturers, including Pilkington, PGW, Fuyao, Xinyi, Guardian, Saint Gobain, Custom Glass Solutions, Trival, Benson and Sisecam. We do not track the individual brands of aftermarket parts in our inventory, only the part numbers, as it makes absolutely no difference to overall quality or compatibility. All aftermarket auto glass manufacturers make their parts to the same exact OEM specifications, without deviation to thickness, fit, or attachments. Auto glass manufacturers do not make their own glass! The sheet glass used in windshield manufacturing is exactly the same glass you would find in the windows in your house. There are three major world suppliers, and all auto glass manufacturers source their glass from these shared suppliers. Many ADAS or “Advanced Driver Assistance System” features in your vehicle require a forward-facing camera. In fact, your vehicle may have multiple cameras.

In most cases, these cameras are mounted to the windshield itself or use the windshield as a lens. Changing the windshield will immediately cause a deviation from where the camera was sitting or “looking.” Even a 1mm difference in the camera position can have drastic effects on where the camera is pointed 100-200 feet in front of the vehicle. A slight deviation from the factory settings can cause the camera to be off by multiple lane widths! This won't do for features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and emergency braking. To get the features working properly again, measurements are taken from the vehicle itself, from the wheel arches and centerline, and marked out on the floor. A target that looks like a big QR code is placed on the marked positions, the camera is flashed using the OEM software, and the system learns the new camera position. Not having the camera calibrated can cause unforeseen issues beyond just some warning lights. Features like lane keep assist and emergency braking actually engages the steering and braking system. If these systems see something that isn’t there or is not looking in the correct location, your vehicle can drift out of its lane, apply the brakes when it shouldn’t, or worse, cause an accident resulting in injury or death. There is very little federal regulation of ADAS systems in Canada, as these technologies have developed and grown more complicated so quickly. Currently, the Canadian government will not recognize any claim against ADAS systems, as it is accepted that the vehicle's driver is ultimately responsible. GlassMasters will not replace a windshield on a vehicle with an ADAS system in the windshield without performing the calibration.

Absolutely. Our technicians will vacuum all glass from inside of the vehicle, as well as the glass inside the door panel/liftgate itself, to prevent the broken glass from jamming locks/latches and prevent unwanted rattling. Broken glass can also collect near drain holes and stop water from exiting correctly, so it is an important step in any tempered glass replacement.

We guarantee our workmanship for as long as you own your vehicle. If at any time a moulding comes loose, a wind whistle, leak or rattle develops, bring the vehicle into one of our shops and we will have the issue corrected!

Great question. OEM, or "Original Equipment Manufacturer" parts are produced by your vehicle's manufacturer. These original designs can also be produced by another reputable manufacturer.  Either way, when opting for OEM parts, you are guaranteed to receive components designed specifically for your vehicle by the brands who know them best. OEM parts are the parts put in a vehicle by, for example, Ford. Ford hires Carlite, a subsidiary of Carlex, to produce glass with the Ford logo. Carlex also produces glass for Subaru, but so does Pilkington! Xinyi glass or XYG produces glass for GM vehicles, St. Gobain produces glass for BMW and Kia.

Aftermarket glass are parts produced that do not feature the vehicle brand's logo. They are often produced by the same companies that make their OEM counterparts, however small details like brand-specific logos and trademarks are removed. All aftermarket glass is manufactured to the same strict OEM specification, but because you don’t need to go to Ford or BMW to buy it, the cost is greatly reduced, as the middle man has been removed. Other differences can include slightly different “shades” of black frit or different applications for the frit. (The black banding that surrounds most windshields on the road today). 

In summary, there is little material difference between aftermarket and OEM parts, with the exception that all trademarks have been removed. The two types of glass come with inclusions and defects at about the same rate, and both are made to the exact same strict OEM specifications for thickness, fit and attachments. Both aftermarket and OEM glass meet AS1 safety standards and DOT requirements.
